Television

Since 2009, the Seine-Saint-Denis County Council has been backing “la Culture et l’Art au Collège (CAC)”. This project is based to a large extent on the presence in class for several weeks (40h) of an artist or scientist whose mission is to engage the students in a process of research and creation.

Objectives:
An approach giving pupils tools for analysing everyday television programmes, not great films or special programmes, but the news, fiction, games and reality shows.

Workshop:
Starting from the open a question “What do you watch on television?” the pupils identified their own television viewing habits and compared them with what the others watch.

Using these findings, the pupils organised the various points of view. The chose a programme, then took part in filming and sound recording sessions.

Each class edited and produced a short film summing up their view of television.

Outcome:
The films were strung together to give an impression of a real day on television: news, films, documentaries, etc.
The films were shown to the participating schools using a system of screens and headsets.
